Upcoming Book Baum dates and selections:

Wednesday, February 26th, 6:45pm-7:45pm

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros

led by Abbey Brooks

This first Book Baum requires more reading than usual because we’re starting with the highly anticipated Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, the third book in The Empyrean Series. We are completely sucked into this story and NEED to discuss it with you! If you love dragons, a healthy dose of shadow daddy, and an action-packed plot, start this series NOW so we can discuss it together at the end of February. If you are buying this selection locally, consider supporting A Novel Romance or Carmichael’s.

Wednesday, March 26th, 6:45pm-7:45pm

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

led by Laurie LeCompte

Grady Hendrix has finally decided to write about witches and we are HERE FOR IT. Grady has a way of infusing comedy and irony into horror that we can’t get enough of. If you are buying this selection locally, consider supporting Butcher Cabin Books or Carmichael’s.

Wednesday, April 30th, 6:45pm-7:45pm

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

led by Megh Zahrndt

Sword wielding lesbian necromancers in space? Say less. This book is currently available on Kindle Unlimited and Audible Premium Plus if you happen to have either of those subscriptions. If you are buying this selection locally, consider supporting Carmichael’s.

Who can come to Book Baum?

EVERYONE! Everyone is welcome at Book Baum and you do not need to be a member or to come to classes regularly to attend. Come meet your fellow book lovers <3

What kind of books do you read for Book Baum?

All sorts, but more specifically we choose books that we enjoy or think we will enjoy or books we think will spur an interesting discussion. You can expect a variety of genres, but our facilitators’ preferences will show in their selections :)

What else should I know?

Since we will be discussing the book in depth, you can expect spoilers. You are welcome to attend and participate in the discussion—and you will not be shamed—if you do not finish the book in time. Come participate in the discussion and enjoy the community! We schedule Book Baum right after a regularly scheduled class so you also have the option of doing yoga and then sticking around for Book Baum. We will link to where you can purchase books locally so you can support Louisville’s indie bookstores! You can also check out the books from the library :) Yoga Baum members receive a discount on Book Baum—email us for your member discount code! We encourage you to read the book jacket description and to look up the trigger warnings for the selections before you decide to read them <3
